Fequently Ask Questions
I forgot my username and/or password!
Click here to access the password reminder form. Enter your email address in the field provided and click submit. The system will send you a reminder email containing your username and password.
I’ve logged into the portal, but don’t see my course listed!
There are a few possible reasons for this:
- You are not registered to take a course. Creating a portal account does not actually register you to take a course. If you have not received a confirmation email from OTI Student Services, you ARE NOT registered for a course! If this is the case, please contact your training coordinator or call Student Services at 847-297-4913.
- You only recently registered for the course and have not yet been added to the portal roster. You must have a portal account and be listed in a roster to be able to access a course. It can take 24-48 hours to be added to the portal roster after course registration.
- You created your portal account with a different email address than the one used to add you to the roster. You must use your official email address to create your account. If you did not, you will need to create another portal account using the correct email address.
- None of the above applies to you. Please contact technical support by email at OTITechSupport@dol.gov or call 847-759-7764.
I just received a "page can not be displayed" error! What do I do?
First note the URL and then contact technical support by email at OTITechSupport@dol.gov or by calling 847-759-7764.
Can I exit the course and return anytime?
Yes. You can exit from and return to the course at any point. To exit the course, either close the browser window or click the exit button from the left-side navigation frame. To return to the course, you will be prompted to log-in again. Once logged-in again, the system returns you to your last page viewed in the online course.
Is a new elearning portal account necessary each time I take an online course?
No, you only need to create an account the first time you take a course through the elearning portal. From that point forward, each time you take a course you will use your original account, username, and password that was previously issued.
How do I change my password?
While logged into the portal click the "my preferences" link located in the blue navigation bar, upper right of the screen. When the preferences page displays click "change password" and enter the information required. After you click the "change password" button you will see a confirmation message stating that your password has been changed.
Do I have to take my course at work?
No. You can access the courses from any computer with a high-speed Internet connection. Once you have completed registration, you only need your username and password to log into the server to take the class using any web browser (e.g. Internet Explorer).
Important reminder: If you need to retrieve a forgotten username or password, the computer you are using for class, no matter the physical location, will need to be able to access your official email account. The system mechanism to retrieve your username and password will be able to send you a reminder email with your username and password to the email address used during registration.
I'm a private sector student. When creating my portal account, what do I put for Agency/Department?
As a private sector student any Agency and Department may be selected, since the fields do not apply.
The text is too small. How can I increase the size of the font used?
There are two common ways to increase your viewing font/text size:
- You can use a computer keyboard and mouse with scroll wheel to increase font/text viewing size. Hold the “Ctrl” (control) key and move the mouse scroll wheel in an upward or downward direction. Once the desired font/text size is visible, release both the scroll wheel and Ctrl key. OR
- From the View main menu, select Zoom and make your choices in the dialog box displayed. Click “OK” to activate change.
How do I print my certificate?
The certificate is not accessible until the Comprehensive Knowledge Check has been completed. Once the final question of the Comprehensive Knowledge Check is answered correctly and the student clicks the forward button a Congratulations page will display which includes a link to view and print the certificate.
Note: It is very important that the certificate be printed, as it is this action that marks the student as complete for the online portion of the course.
